Actor Ji Chang-wook takes the lead role in Disney+'s first Korean-Japanese collaboration drama 'Merry Berry Love'.

On the 13th, The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific (APAC) held the 'Disney+ Original Preview 2025' at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. This event offered a sneak peek at upcoming APAC and global original content set to premiere on Disney+. The lineup included APAC originals from countries like Korea and Japan, as well as general entertainment content, with top stars and creative partners in attendance.

During the event, Disney+'s first Korean-Japanese collaboration, 'Merry Berry Love', was introduced. The drama tells the story of a young Korean man starting a new life in rural Japan, starring Korean actor Ji Chang-wook and Japanese actress Imada Mio.

Ji Chang-wook shared his thoughts on joining 'Merry Berry Love', stating, "The character setup itself was interesting. I have always wanted to work in Japan." He added, "When I received the offer for 'Merry Berry Love', I had high expectations for an exciting collaboration. I was also very much looking forward to working with Imada Mio." Imada Mio, who plays a strawberry farmer, commented, "The language barrier was a challenge, but I believe that love is about wanting to know more about each other. I think this desire to communicate beyond language is expressed in this drama."

Expressing his feelings about joining Disney+'s first multinational project, Ji Chang-wook said, "I'm nervous since it's my first time doing such work, but I'm very excited because I've prepared a lot." He continued, "Mio is currently filming, and I will be joining the shoot starting this Sunday. I think it will be fun, and I hope everyone looks forward to it." Imada Mio shared her excitement, saying, "I also love Korean romantic comedies. I'm thrilled to experience that world in real life."

Ji Chang-wook explained, "Our drama contains humanism and love. A key point to watch is how love transcends cultural barriers." He also hinted, "In the drama, my character doesn't speak Japanese. From the first meeting, there are awkward moments. Viewers will enjoy the comedic mishaps and see how communication improves as the story progresses."
