Mary was surprised by Woo-ju's confession, questioning his love with, "Why?" Woo-ju responded, "Do you need a reason to like someone?" and held Mary's hand, asking, "Do you dislike me because I like you?" This straightforward charm left Mary flustered. She bombarded Woo-ju with questions about his financial status, to which Woo-ju confidently replied, "I can live independently if you want," making Mary's heart flutter.

The confession marked a turning point in their relationship. Woo-ju stood by Mary's side, even guarding her ex-fiancé Kim Woo-ju's (played by Seo Bum-june) hospital room, humorously blocking his tantrums. Mary couldn't stop thinking about Woo-ju's confession and subtly expressed her feelings by adding a heart emoji to her text messages. Woo-ju, in turn, took care of Mary's commute and gifted her a bouquet of pompom chrysanthemums, symbolizing sincerity.

Woo-ju showcased his frugality by sharing his childhood allowance ledger with Mary, charming her with his quirky appeal. When Mary showed interest in the 'Smile' mentioned in Woo-ju's diary, Woo-ju tried to snatch it back, leading to a near-kiss moment that raised their heartbeats. Although interrupted by Mary's stomach growling, they spent a cozy evening together, sharing childhood memories over dinner and beer. Woo-ju canceled his ride home, and Mary suggested, "Just stay over. We have plenty of rooms." The two spent the night under one roof, with Mary watching Woo-ju sleep on the sofa, her affectionate gaze and Woo-ju's contentment creating a heartwarming scene.

The next day, dressed in couple outfits, Woo-ju and Mary ran into Yoon Jin-kyung (played by Shin Seul-ki) near their pretend newlywed home, heightening the tension. Jin-kyung, aware of their fake marriage, accused Woo-ju of being an accomplice in fraud. When Woo-ju remained unfazed, Jin-kyung spitefully revealed Woo-ju's family background and past with Mary, shocking her by saying, "Did you know it was Mary's father who saved Woo-ju? He helped you to repay the debt."

Misunderstanding Woo-ju's confession as guilt-driven, Mary confronted him, asking if he still had the doll she gave him. Woo-ju confirmed he kept it, opening up about their past. Mary tried to draw a line, saying she didn't blame Woo-ju's family for her father's death, but Woo-ju countered, "It's not out of guilt. It's because I like you." He reassured her, "I'll always be by your side, no matter what you do."

The two shared a poignant kiss in the middle of a sunset-lit reed field, moving viewers with their heartfelt connection. Woo-ju's tender gaze conveyed his deep emotions, while Mary's gentle grip on his wrist symbolized her promise to never let go.

Amidst the blossoming romance, tension arose with Woo-ju's uncle-in-law Jang Han-gu's (played by Kim Young-min) large-scale embezzlement and fraud. Han-gu deceived Woo-ju's grandmother, Go Pil-nyeon (played by Jung Ae-ri), the chairman of Myungsoon-dang, into investing in a fake project involving exporting traditional Korean snacks to a U.S. hotel buffet. This betrayal hinted at future turmoil for Myungsoon-dang.

Episode 8 of 'Would You Marry Me?' airs tonight at 9:50 PM.
