K-pop singer Soyou has received an apology from Delta Airlines following her claims of experiencing racial discrimination on a flight.
Soyou took to Instagram to address the situation, stating, "I am writing this to clarify the false information and rumors that have been spreading indiscriminately about the incidents that occurred on my return flight last week."
She explained, "After contemplating the series of events that continued throughout the flight, I submitted a complaint through the flight attendant before landing and received an apology via email from Delta Airlines this week."
Soyou expressed gratitude to those who supported her, saying, "I am thankful to those who empathized with what I went through and the emotions I felt over the past week. I apologize for causing concern with my personal matters, and thanks to the encouragement from those who supported my courageous post, I was able to return to my daily life."
However, she also mentioned, "Despite having to write another post to correct the facts, false information and rumors are still being spread indiscriminately."
Soyou stated, "I have received a formal apology for the issues that arose, so I do not intend to address this matter through public channels any further. However, I will respond firmly and take legal action against baseless speculation, unverified false information, and defamatory expressions that infringe on personal rights."
She concluded, "I apologize for writing about uncomfortable news consecutively, but I intend to correct what needs to be corrected. Once again, I apologize for causing concern with my personal matters, and I hope to bring you pleasant news in the future. Thank you."
Previously, on the 20th, Soyou claimed on social media that she experienced racial discrimination by a flight attendant while boarding a flight from Atlanta to Korea after completing her schedule in New York. She shared on Instagram, "I was extremely tired and only requested a Korean flight attendant to check the meal time, but the purser judged my attitude and treated me like a problematic passenger, even calling security."
Following this, some online communities posted claims that Soyou was intoxicated, which she denied, clarifying that she was not inebriated.
