K-Pop Star Soyou Alleges Racial Discrimination on Delta Flight

Former SISTAR member Soyou has spoken out about experiencing racial discrimination.

On the 19th, Soyou took to her social media to share a lengthy post. She recounted, "After finishing my schedule in New York, I boarded a flight from Atlanta to Korea. I was exhausted and simply asked a Korean flight attendant about the meal schedule. However, the purser assumed my attitude was problematic and treated me like a troublesome passenger, even calling security on me."

She continued, "I had to say that I would disembark if I was the problem, and I endured cold stares and attitudes throughout the flight. At that moment, I wondered, 'Is this racial discrimination?'" She added, "I couldn't eat anything during the over 15-hour flight, and the experience left a deep scar rooted in racial prejudice."

Soyou concluded by saying, "I hope no one is ever suspected or insulted because of their race." She also shared a photo of her Delta Airlines boarding pass.

Previously, Hyeri, a former member of Girl's Day, reported a similar incident. In 2023, Hyeri claimed, "I booked a month and a half in advance and even selected my seat, but I was downgraded from first class to economy." She further criticized, "The airline said they couldn't refund me and suggested I take the next flight if I wasn't satisfied with the seat. How could both seats I booked be downgraded?"

At the time, Delta Airlines explained, "The incident was unavoidable due to the need to switch to a smaller aircraft for safe operation," and stated that "the fare difference for the economy seat is being refunded."
