The highly anticipated film 'Canvas of Blood(몽유도원도)' has officially announced its main cast, including Kim Nam-gil, Park Bo-gum, and Lee Hyun-wook, and has commenced filming.
Directed by Jang Hun, 'Canvas of Blood' began its principal photography on October 14. The film tells the story of brothers Suyang and Anpyeong, who dream of different paradises after the completion of the painting 'Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land(몽유도원도),' which captures a beautiful and surreal landscape seen in a dream. The narrative centers around the dramatic fate of the Joseon Dynasty, focusing on the painting created by the artist An Gyeon in just three days, based on the dream of Prince Anpyeong, the son of King Sejong.
The casting lineup is drawing significant attention. Kim Nam-gil takes on the role of Suyang, a character who harbors ambitions of becoming king. Known for his roles in dramas like 'The Fiery Priest' and films such as 'The Shameless' and 'The Pirates,' Kim Nam-gil will portray Suyang's transformation into a ruthless figure as he seeks to understand his brother Anpyeong's desires through the painting. His performance is expected to showcase a range of emotions, from ambition to inner turmoil.
Park Bo-gum plays Anpyeong, a prince who loves beauty and enjoys collecting art. Known as a master of calligraphy, poetry, and painting, Anpyeong is referred to as the 'Prince of Culture' in Joseon. Park Bo-gum, who has captivated audiences with his sincere portrayals in recent works like 'Good Boy' and 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' will bring to life Anpyeong's idealistic vision of creating a paradise on earth. Lee Hyun-wook takes on the role of An Gyeon, the renowned painter of Joseon and Anpyeong's artistic companion. His character's integrity in the face of power promises to add depth to the film.
