Lee Young-ae, Kim Young-kwang, and Park Yong-woo are caught in a web of tragic domino effects.
In the latest episode of KBS 2TV's weekend mini-series 'Walking On Thin Ice,' which aired yesterday (12th), the tangled desires of Kang Eunsoo (played by Lee Young-ae), Lee Kyung (played by Kim Young-kwang), and Jang Tae-goo (played by Park Yong-woo) were revealed. The series, which started with a 3.7% viewership rating on September 20, climbed to 5.1% by episode 5. However, episodes 6 and 7 saw a dip to 4.3%, and episode 8 further declined to a nationwide rating of 4.0%.
Eunsoo was shocked to discover that Mi-yeon (played by Jo Yeon-hee), a parent who had been threatening her, was actually a customer to whom she had sold drugs. Eunsoo visited Mi-yeon in the hospital, offering to dispose of the phone containing evidence of drug transactions in exchange for silence about her relationship with Lee Kyung. However, when Mi-yeon provoked her with resentment, Eunsoo felt overwhelmed and left.
Meanwhile, Tae-goo's decision to close the investigation despite not finding the Phantom's drug bag raised suspicions. Rookie detective Kyung-do (played by Kwon Ji-woo) attempted to interview Phantom boss Kyu-man (played by Won Hyun-joon) in jail, but Kyu-man remained silent. Convinced there was a Phantom informant within the police, Kyung-do continued his investigation.
Tae-goo revealed that he was the detective who investigated Lee Kyung 10 years ago and uncovered his revenge plan. Holding Lee Kyung's weakness, Tae-goo demanded a large sum of money, threatening him with the knowledge that Kang Hwi-rim (played by Do Sang-woo) was unaware of Lee Kyung's true identity. On the brink of his decade-long revenge, Lee Kyung began to waver under Tae-goo's pressure.
Tae-goo's obsession with money was also unveiled, driven by the need to prove his assets to regain custody of his son. He demanded a large sum from Lee Kyung to repurchase his former home, leading Lee Kyung to secretly ask Eunsoo for 200 million won, creating another crisis.
Still struggling financially, Eunsoo was pushed to the edge after being fired from her job at a supermarket. Although she returned to her husband Do-jin (played by Bae Soo-bin) and daughter Soo-ah (played by Kim Si-a), their life could not return to what it once was.
Lee Kyung, along with his brother, planned the final stage of their operation to bring down the Kang Hwi-rim family. However, Eunsoo, who was trailing Lee Kyung, sensed another deal was underway, completely shattering their trust. Feeling betrayed, Eunsoo broke her promise to Lee Kyung, preventing him from paying off Tae-goo. The ensuing chain reaction pushed their relationships to an inevitable catastrophe, signaling the start of a tragic domino effect.
At the end of the episode, the desires of the three characters clashed head-on. As Tae-goo, having lost his composure, aimed a gun at Lee Kyung, Eunsoo appeared on the rooftop, realizing Tae-goo was the blackmailer and the mastermind behind all the events. The revelation that Soo-ah was involved as a drug courier added to the tension, and the awakening of Phantom member Joon-hyun (played by Son Bo-seung), who had been in a coma, hinted at new developments.
