The highly anticipated 'Hip Hop Princess' has released a teaser for the music video of its debut track, gearing up for its first broadcast.
Today, Mnet's 'Unpretty Rapstar: Hip Hop Princess' (hereafter referred to as 'Hip Hop Princess') unveiled the music video teaser for its first track and title song, 'Do My Thang.' Under the direction of main producer Gaeko, the teaser showcases the explosive potential and energy of the Korean and Japanese participants.
'Hip Hop Princess' is a new collaborative project by Mnet aiming to create a global hip-hop girl group. Participants will engage in all aspects of the process, including music, choreography, styling, and video production, to express their unique colors. The show aims to blend and clash the distinct cultures of Korea and Japan through hip-hop, allowing participants to create new cultural expressions and grow as unique artists.
The participants, with an average age of 17, come from diverse backgrounds. Among them are those with experience in audition programs or debuting, as well as university students, cheerleading dance competition winners, former student council presidents, and teenagers with numerous self-composed songs.
The teaser video for 'Do My Thang' features a catchy melody and the vibrant energy of the 'Hip Hop Princess' participants. Their unique styling, including wide denim pants, and the free-spirited, hip atmosphere are particularly eye-catching. The 30-second video highlights the group's distinctive identity and world, raising anticipation for the first broadcast with its grand scale of 40-member choreography and a striking ending performance.
Gaeko, who joined as the main producer, personally directed the recording of the title track to enhance its quality. He shared, "I was impressed by how the participants gave their best in their short parts. It was interesting to see their strengths shine through in just a few lines."
He added, "Offstage, the participants' innocent and bright demeanor reminded me of typical teenagers. I hope they maintain that pure and clear energy." The potential discoveries from this show are eagerly awaited.
'Hip Hop Princess' will conduct its first global online voting from 12 PM KST today until 12 PM KST on October 24. Voting is available through Mnet Plus in Korea and globally, and U-NEXT in Japan. Previously, videos showcasing the participants' individuality and skills, such as introduction cyphers, were released.
'Hip Hop Princess' will premiere on October 16 at 9:50 PM KST on Mnet and will be simultaneously broadcast in Japan via U-NEXT.
