Exploring Gangnam's Hospital District: A Tour with 'Save Me! Holmes'

MBC's 'Save Me! Holmes' recently aired its second installment focusing on neighborhoods tailored for specific professions, this time exploring the Gangnam hospital district.

On the episode aired on the 9th, the show ventured into Suseo and Irwon-dong, areas known for their proximity to major hospitals. The hosts meticulously examined homes in these hospital-centric neighborhoods and met various professionals dedicated to saving lives. Joining the exploration were ENT specialist and author of 'Trauma Center,' Lee Nak-joon, along with TV personalities Kangnam and Joo Woo-jae.

The first stop was 'Doctor's Apartment Magnolia Town' in Irwon-dong, Gangnam. Located just a five-minute walk from a major hospital, this apartment complex is home to many doctors, earning its nickname. The featured home, owned by a doctor couple, boasted a fully remodeled, stylish interior. The hosts discussed the nuances of living in a hospital district with the resident doctor.

Another unit in 'Magnolia Town' was showcased, highlighting its panoramic view of Daemosan Mountain from the sunlit living room. The apartment, also fully remodeled, featured chic furnishings included as standard options.

The second location was a 'Short-term Rental Patient Room' in Irwon-dong, designed for patients and caregivers needing temporary accommodation. Situated five minutes from a major hospital's cancer ward, this converted goshiwon offered single and double rooms with essential appliances like refrigerators and washing machines included.

The third stop was 'Taste Street' in Irwon-dong, a bustling alley lined with popular eateries. Here, the hosts met surgeon Lee Seung-chan, known from the show 'I Want to Date Despite Being a Born Single,' for engaging conversations.

The hosts also spoke with a nurse working at a major hospital about 'Seocho Living Center,' a dormitory near Nambu Terminal. The dormitory offers a 50% accommodation subsidy from the hospital, typically housing first and second-year nurses. A self-filmed video by the nurse provided a glimpse inside the dormitory.

Next, they visited Daechung Village, near 'Taste Street,' known for its standalone homes amidst dense apartment complexes, housing many hospital nurses. The hosts toured the studio apartment of an 8-year ICU nurse, learning about local rental prices.

Finally, the tour concluded at 'Gung Village Detached House' in Suseo-dong, Gangnam. Near SRT Suseo Station, this standalone house won the '2019 Gangnam Beautiful Architecture Award.' Its exotic exterior and exquisite landscaping were striking, with high ceilings adding to the spacious feel. The first floor featured an expansive dining room and kitchen, while the second and third floors offered rooms and terraces with forest views.
