On the 3rd, attorney Ko Sang-rok mentioned on his Instagram the content of over 150 letters Kim Soo-hyun sent exclusively to a romantic partner during his military service.
He explained the reason for revealing the letters, stating, "The actor focused solely on his partner throughout his military service, leaving behind 150 letters. This is evidence that his mind was filled with thoughts of his partner, leaving no room for any other emotions or interests."
He continued, "The letters to his partner are filled with gratitude, apologies, and direct expressions of affection. He even wrote in his diary about being thankful and finding his male manager cute for being considerate. But would he write love letters like this to someone he liked?" questioning the nature of the letters sent to Kim Sae-ron.
Regarding the letters sent to the deceased, attorney Ko stated, "The letters are not fundamentally different from a soldier calling a civilian who doesn't know about military life on a day off, saying 'Let's meet up when I'm on leave,' and hanging up. There are no direct expressions of affection, nor any compliments on appearance or feelings towards the other person."
Additionally, attorney Ko mentioned, "The photos released (through the YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Institute') were taken when the deceased was an adult, and the messenger conversations made to look like they were sent by the actor were actually sent by someone else." He further claimed, "Ultimately, the only material from the deceased's minor years is a single letter sent during military service in 2018 and a video of a meal during military leave."
Previously, on the 30th of last month, attorney Ko posted on his Facebook, "To restore the actor's tarnished reputation and correct distorted facts, I have written this based on facts confirmed through the agency and thoroughly verified objective materials," and released letters presumed to have been written by Kim Soo-hyun to a former partner during his military service.
Kim Soo-hyun has been under suspicion since March of having dated the deceased Kim Sae-ron for six years, starting when she was a minor. Initially denying the relationship with Kim Sae-ron, Kim Soo-hyun later changed his stance, stating, "We dated after she became an adult." However, the controversy intensified when letters sent to Kim Sae-ron during his military service were revealed by 'Garo Sero Institute.' Kim Sae-ron was found deceased at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16, Kim Soo-hyun's birthday.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, stated, "We are considering the strongest possible legal action against the spread of false information," and has filed charges against 'Garo Sero Institute' for violations of the Stalking Punishment Act and defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. There is also an ongoing dispute regarding a 700 million won penalty related to the deceased's drunk driving accident.
On March 31, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference, stating, "I did not date the deceased when she was a minor," and "It is also not true that she made a tragic choice due to my neglect or the agency's pressure on her debts," shedding tears during the statement.
