TXT's Beomgyu and Singer Lee Young-ji Criticize KakaoTalk Update

Members of the popular K-pop group Tomorrow X Together (TXT), Beomgyu, and singer Lee Young-ji have expressed their dissatisfaction with the recent KakaoTalk update.

On the 28th, Beomgyu took to a fan communication platform to voice his frustration, saying, "Why does the KakaoTalk update happen without any consideration? I hate sudden changes, and this update is really annoying."

He further criticized, "I understand adding innovative features, but they've made it more complicated and added unnecessary functions. I don't care about other people's profiles, yet they're displayed like a gallery." He questioned, "Who is this update for if no one likes it?"

Similarly, Lee Young-ji shared her thoughts on the fan platform, stating, "I tried to avoid updating KakaoTalk, but it happened without my consent." She added, "Even my old profile pictures from high school are now widely displayed on my profile. I'm going to delete them all."

KakaoTalk underwent a major update on the 23rd, transforming the friend list into a feed format similar to Instagram and adding a short-form video tab. Some users have expressed discomfort with these sudden changes.

In response, KakaoTalk announced on the 29th that they would revert the friend tab to its previous version, just six days after the update. The revised version is expected to be implemented in the fourth quarter.
