KARA's Kang Ji-young recently shared her thoughts on BIGBANG's Daesung and addressed a past controversy on the variety show 'Radio Star.'
In a video titled 'Why Didn't You Reply to My Text? The Star of the Host's First Scandal Appears' on Daesung's YouTube channel 'House Daesung,' Kang Ji-young expressed her long-standing admiration for Daesung. She mentioned, "I've always supported him, even though there was a brief time I stepped away." She recalled her first impression of Daesung, saying, "I saw him on 'Happy Shares Company' saying, 'My favorite character is Doraemon,' and thought, 'Who is this cute person?'"
Their first encounter dates back to when Kang Ji-young was 16 and expressed her fandom for Daesung on a variety show. Despite the show's producers highlighting a potential love line by exchanging phone numbers, Kang Ji-young revealed, "I sent a message, but he never replied. I didn't expect much; it was just fan admiration." Daesung apologized, explaining, "I remember reading it but was too scared to reply, which led to a misunderstanding."
Kang Ji-young shared that she kept a signed album from Daesung with the message, "Thank you for your support, see you again, fighting!" Daesung, feeling embarrassed, remarked, "Did I write it so messily?" while fellow guest Heo Young-ji laughed, "Oppa is completely flustered."
The conversation naturally shifted to Kang Ji-young's past variety show controversy. In 2013, she faced criticism for refusing to perform aegyo on MBC's 'Radio Star,' which led to tears. She explained, "Since then, I've been afraid of Korean variety shows. It wasn't that I didn't want to do it; my dog was sick that day, and I wasn't in a good mood." She added, "A member cried in front of me, and I got swept up in the atmosphere, saying, 'I can't do it.' It was just teenage angst."
Daesung empathized, "It wouldn't have been easy for me either. With someone crying and the heavy atmosphere, it would have been hard to be the mood changer and show aegyo." Kang Ji-young joked, "Now, I'll do anything if asked," and when Daesung asked if they could see the aegyo they missed, she replied, "Aegyo isn't forced these days. Isn't flirting a form of aegyo?" She playfully clinked glasses, saying, "Can I get drunk today?" Daesung blushed, responding, "This is heart-fluttering."
During a lie detector segment, when asked if her feelings for Daesung from her younger days were still valid, Kang Ji-young answered "No," but the result showed 'Lie,' creating a tense moment. Conversely, when Daesung was asked if he would reply now, he said "Yes," and the result was 'Truth,' leading to cheers.
Finally, when Kang Ji-young asked if she could call him "Oppa," Daesung responded, "Then, Ji-young-ah," which was confirmed as 'Truth.' However, when she asked if he would attend a premiere if invited, his "Yes" was revealed as 'Lie,' causing laughter.
