'Turbulent Waters' is a story set around Gyeonggang, where all the money and goods of Joseon converge. It follows individuals with different dreams who strive to overturn a corrupt world and live with dignity. This marks Disney+'s first historical drama series.
Shin Ye-eun plays Choi Eun, the youngest daughter of the largest merchant group in Joseon, 'Choi Merchant Group.' She dreams of inheriting and leading the family business. Recently, Shin Ye-eun gained attention for her adorable antics at the Busan International Film Festival, where she participated in a 'charm battle.' She shared, "I was quite nervous at the time, but once I was there, I felt happy. It became an unforgettable memory for me." At the event, she continued to charm the audience with her playful demeanor.
To prepare for her role, Shin Ye-eun learned to use an abacus. She mentioned, "I might have tried it once or twice in elementary school, but I took formal lessons this time."
'Turbulent Waters' will be available on Disney+, with the first three episodes premiering on the 26th. The series will release two episodes every Friday until October 17, totaling nine episodes.
