Rowoon shares his excitement about transforming into a rugged character for 'The Murky Stream'.
On the 23rd, a press conference for Disney+ original series 'The Murky Stream' was held at the Eliena Hotel in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. Director Choo Chang-min, along with actors Rowoon, Shin Ye-eun, Park Seo-ham, Park Ji-hwan, Choi Guy-hwa, and Kim Dong-won, were in attendance.
'The Murky Stream' is a historical drama set in the Joseon era, revolving around the bustling trade hub of Gyeonggang. It tells the story of individuals with different dreams striving to overturn a corrupt world and live with dignity. This marks Disney+'s first foray into the historical drama genre.
Rowoon takes on the role of Jang Si-yul, a laborer hiding his past while eking out a living in Gyeonggang, where all of Joseon's wealth and resources converge.
Rowoon embraced a 'beggar-like' appearance, shedding his usual polished image. He expressed, "I found the transformation process for 'The Murky Stream' enjoyable. It made me realize that if I work hard, I can continue acting for a long time."
Describing his character, Rowoon said, "Having a name and a home means having something to rely on. Si-yul, without a name or home, is like a lone wolf."
Rowoon proudly mentioned, "We have very few indoor sets, with 98% of our scenes shot on open sets. The night lighting is beautiful, and I recommend watching it with the lights off." He added, "Our filming environment was so comfortable that everyone enjoyed being on set. The director paid attention to every detail, even the props, allowing me to focus more on my acting."
'The Murky Stream' will be available on Disney+, with the first three episodes premiering on the 26th. The series will release two episodes every Friday until October 17th, totaling nine episodes.
