MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'To the Moon' (planned by Jang Jae-hoon, directed by Oh Da-young and Jung Hoon, written by Na Yoon-chae, produced by Bon Factory) tells the hyper-realistic survival story of three women who dive into cryptocurrency investment as they struggle to survive on their salaries alone. The fresh storyline and the synergy of the cast are expected to bring a new vitality to the small screen.
On September 10, a teaser video featuring the four main characters—Jung Da-hae (played by Lee Sun-bin), Kang Eun-sang (played by Ra Mi-ran), Kim Ji-song (played by Jo A-ram), and Ham Bak-sa (played by Kim Young-dae)—was released. The teaser encapsulates the stories of the 'ordinary trio' Da-hae, Eun-sang, and Ji-song, who find themselves boarding the 'crypto train.' It also reveals the true nature of Ham Bak-sa's dream, which he desires more than money, drawing viewers into the narrative.
Da-hae's teaser video begins with her humble wish, "I just want to live a peaceful life," which resonates deeply. Despite her diligent work in a mundane life, she only receives subtle mockery from her boss. With no other options, Da-hae decides to board the 'crypto train,' declaring, "I'm going to see how far money can take me. I won't stop!" Her determination and the phrase "Life is unpredictable" inject a sense of hopeful wit, encouraging viewers to root for her future.
Eun-sang's character teaser video highlights her special friendship with Da-hae and Ji-song, evoking heartfelt emotions. Despite her frugality, which prompts Da-hae and Ji-song to jokingly call her "stingy," Eun-sang persistently invites them to join her on the crypto train. Her sincere words, "I can't bear to see you fall. I'll go with you to the end," reveal her true feelings, heightening anticipation for the unique 'womance' among the trio.
Ji-song, the 'YOLO advocate,' finds joy in simple pleasures like a new pair of shoes, bringing smiles with her carefree lifestyle. She habitually apologizes to her boss to navigate through challenges. When Eun-sang persuades Da-hae to join the crypto train, Ji-song hesitates, fearing, "What if it's worse than here?" Da-hae's poignant reply, "What could be worse than our reality?" convinces Ji-song to board the train, sparking curiosity about what the future holds for her.
Ham Bak-sa, known as the 'legend of Maron Confectionery' for his brilliant ideas, surprises everyone with a hidden past revealed in his teaser video. Contrary to his elite image, he was once a 'singer.' Meeting Da-hae, who still remembers and loves his songs, he quietly begins to dream of returning to the stage, adding excitement to how his and Da-hae's stories will unfold.
Meanwhile, MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'To the Moon' is set to premiere on September 19 at 9:50 PM.
