Former KBS Announcer Kim Jae-won Opens Up About Family and Farewell

Recently, former KBS announcer Kim Jae-won shared a heartfelt story about his family.


On the 26th, the 'We Miracle' channel released a video titled "The Secret of Life Realized by a 30-Year Announcer Who Interviewed 10,000 People."

In the video, Kim Jae-won expressed his feelings on the day of his resignation. He said, "I originally planned to walk home as usual, but I received so many gifts that I got a ride from a colleague," adding, "I felt more love than I did at my wedding or might at my future funeral," expressing his gratitude.

Kim Jae-won also recalled a painful memory about his mother. He shared, "My mother passed away when I was 13. I lived with it, but after marriage, my mother-in-law became another mother to me," and added, "However, after my mother-in-law passed away, I realized there was a void inside me."

He explained, "Watching my wife and sister-in-law mourn my mother-in-law, I realized I hadn't properly mourned my mother who passed away 45 years ago. This process is captured in my latest essay."

Kim Jae-won's candid confession resonates deeply with many, highlighting the significance of family and the time needed for mourning.

Meanwhile, Kim Jae-won joined KBS as part of the 21st open recruitment in 1995 and served as an announcer for over 30 years. After deciding on an honorable retirement after three decades, he hosted flagship KBS programs such as 'Morning Yard' and '6 O'Clock My Hometown.'
