Korean Actress Go Hyun-jung Opens Up About Divorce, Motherhood, and Personal Growth on 'Salon Drip 2'

Korean actress Go Hyun-jung recently made a candid appearance on the YouTube web show 'Salon Drip 2,' hosted by Jang Do-yeon, where she discussed her personal experiences with divorce and motherhood.

During the episode, Go Hyun-jung revealed, "You might not believe it, but I'm an introvert (I). People come and go in life, and I've noticed that when people are thriving, they come around, but when things get tough, they disappear."

Reflecting on her past, she shared, "Looking back, 32 was quite young, but at that age, I went through a divorce and had two children. I thought I was much older than I was, and I couldn't meet people as myself, acting as if I knew everything."

Go Hyun-jung married Shinsegae Group's Chairman Chung Yong-jin in 1995, but they divorced eight years later due to personality differences. The custody of their two children was granted to Chung, and Go received a settlement of 1.5 billion won.

Discussing a turning point in her life, Go Hyun-jung said, "After a major illness five years ago, I decided to meet people as myself." She mentioned being close to celebrities like Jung Jae-hyung, Uhm Jung-hwa, and Kang Min-kyung.

Notably, Go Hyun-jung became emotional when Kang Min-kyung surprised her during the early days of her YouTube channel. She admitted, "I wasn't close with the PD at the time. I felt anxious and suddenly lonely."

Currently active on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube, Go humorously expressed her frustration, "How do you increase Instagram followers? It's so annoying. I'm stuck at 377,000. I want to reach 500,000."

She also shared her parents' concerns about her marital status, saying, "My parents and siblings are worried because I'm the only one alone. But I just want my parents to live happily without fighting."

Go humorously added that she advises her parents to divorce when they argue, and when her mother complains about her father, she responds, "Isn't it cruel to badmouth your husband to me?"

Known for her generosity, Go Hyun-jung enjoys giving gifts to her staff. She shared, "I like doing what I want. When there's a convenience store scene, I always ring the golden bell. I clear out the shelves to prevent the crew from feeling left out. But rumors spread, and sometimes it costs over 10 million won. Let's not do that."

In another anecdote, Go Hyun-jung discussed a scene from the drama 'Reflection of You,' where she threw an Hermes bag. She clarified, "The bag was mine. The brand wasn't mentioned in the script, but those who know, know it's a Kelly bag. I thought it would add another layer of enjoyment beyond the drama's plot."

Expressing her unique philosophy, Go Hyun-jung stated, "I believe I'm better than luxury brands. I've given away unused Chanel and Hermes items to those around me. However, when memories are attached to an item, it becomes a luxury to me."
