BTS has added another song to their billion-stream list on Spotify.
The title track 'FAKE LOVE' from their third studio album 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 'Tear'', released in May 2018, has surpassed 1 billion streams on the world's largest music streaming platform, Spotify, as of August 24. This marks the fifth BTS group song to achieve this milestone.
'FAKE LOVE' is an emo hip hop track that features grunge rock guitar sounds and groovy trap beats. The song explores the emotions of realizing that a love once thought to be destiny was actually a lie. Its dark themes resonated globally, earning widespread acclaim.
Upon its release, 'FAKE LOVE' reached No. 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 42 on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. The album 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 'Tear'' made history as the first Korean album to top the Billboard 200, solidifying K-pop's global presence.
On the same Spotify chart dated August 24, Jungkook also achieved a billion streams with his solo single '3D (feat. Jack Harlow)', released in September 2023. This brings Jungkook's total to four songs with over a billion streams, including 'Seven (feat. Latto)', 'Standing Next to You', and his collaboration with Charlie Puth, 'Left and Right (Feat. Jung Kook of BTS)', setting a record for the most by a K-pop solo artist.
'3D (feat. Jack Harlow)' debuted at No. 5 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. The track is an R&B pop song with old-school vibes, blending mid-2000s hip hop and dance elements with Jungkook's unique style. It conveys a message of wanting to meet 'you' in three dimensions and always be 'us'.
BTS has also achieved 2 billion streams with 'Dynamite' on Spotify. Other tracks like 'My Universe', 'Butter', 'Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)', and 'FAKE LOVE' have each surpassed 1 billion streams. In total, BTS has 127 group songs with over 100 million streams.
