Actor Kwon Hae-hyo Reflects on Personal Connection to His Role as a Blind Character in 'The Face'

Actor Kwon Hae-hyo, who plays a blind character in the film 'The Face,' revealed a personal connection to his role, sharing that his late father-in-law was visually impaired.

On the 22nd, a press conference for the movie 'The Face' was held at Lotte Cinema in Jayang-dong, Seoul. The event was attended by director Yeon Sang-ho and actors Park Jung-min, Kwon Hae-hyo, Shin Hyun-bin, Lim Sung-jae, and Han Ji-hyun.

'The Face' tells the story of Im Dong-hwan, the son of a blind seal engraver, Im Young-gyu, who uncovers the truth behind his mother's death after her skeletal remains are discovered 40 years after she was thought to be missing.

Kwon Hae-hyo portrays the present-day Im Young-gyu, a master engraver known for creating the most beautiful seals despite his visual impairment.

Kwon shared his experience, saying, "I had to wear lenses for the shoot, which made it difficult to see. There was a strange sense of comfort in that. We receive so much information through our eyes, and as actors, we often react to that. But being in a state where I couldn't see brought a sense of stability and comfort. I wasn't conscious of how I appeared." He added, "My late father-in-law was visually impaired, and having seen him, I think I naturally captured the essence of a visually impaired character on screen."

'The Face' is set to be released on September 11.
