South Korean actress Jang Seo-yeon has been cast in Amazon Prime Video's series 'Butterfly,' which also marks the Hollywood debut of actress Kim Tae-hee.
On the 13th, Jang Seo-yeon's agency, 'Content Hap,' announced her participation in the series 'Butterfly.'
'Butterfly' is a spy thriller series based on a graphic novel of the same name. It follows the story of a former U.S. intelligence officer, David Jung, played by Daniel Dae Kim, and a current agent, Rebecca, portrayed by Reina Hardesty, who is sent to eliminate him. Jang Seo-yeon will showcase her diverse acting skills alongside Daniel Dae Kim and Piper Perabo.
Produced and starring Korean-American actor Daniel Dae Kim, 'Butterfly' is co-created by Ken Woodruff, known for 'The Mentalist' and 'Gotham,' and Korean-American author Steph Cha, who won the LA Times Book Prize in the Mystery & Thriller category in 2019.
The series features key scenes shot at iconic Seoul landmarks such as the Han River, Cheonggyecheon, Jongno, and Yeouido. The trailer also includes BTS member J-Hope's solo track 'What If,' raising expectations for an authentic Korean representation in a Western series.
In addition to Daniel Dae Kim, Reina Hardesty, and Piper Perabo, the cast includes renowned actors like Kim Tae-hee, Park Hae-soo, and Kim Ji-hoon, with rising global star Jang Seo-yeon joining the lineup.
Previously, on the 15th of last month, Jang Seo-yeon announced her casting in Netflix's 'BEEF' Season 2. With her role in 'Butterfly,' anticipation grows for her potential rise as an influential actress in Hollywood.
'Butterfly' consists of six episodes and will be available in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. on August 13th. It will also air in South Korea on tvN every Friday and Saturday at 10:40 PM starting August 22nd.
