Professor Lee Gye-ho, an analytical chemist, appeared on 'You Quiz on the Block' to share valuable health insights.

On the October 6th episode of tvN's variety show 'You Quiz on the Block' (referred to as 'You Quiz'), Professor Lee Gye-ho was featured as a guest, delving into the hidden dangers in our daily food consumption.

Professor Lee explained that analytical chemistry involves examining visible substances to determine their chemical composition. He has been conducting comprehensive research on commercial food products, including primary agricultural and marine products as well as secondary processed foods, for 25 years. His focus is primarily on harmful substances such as pesticides, heavy metals, and carcinogens.

Professor Lee advised on maintaining gut health by stating, "It's not about avoiding meat entirely, but consuming it in moderation." He added, "Grilled meat is delicious, but even a slightly charred portion can contain benzopyrene, a Group 1 carcinogen. Group 1 means it has a 100% chance of causing cancer cells."

He further explained that even healthy individuals develop cancer cells daily. While it's impossible to completely avoid carcinogens, maintaining a strong immune system can help eliminate these cells. However, consuming charred meat when one's immune system is compromised could alter one's fate over 10 or 20 years.

Additionally, Professor Lee advised against consuming cold beverages, recommending adequate hydration and eating only necessary amounts for a healthier lifestyle.
