Yoon Kye-sang's Character Faces Health Crisis in 'The Winning Try' as Ratings Soar

In the latest episode of SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Winning Try,' Yoon Kye-sang's character, Joo Ga-ram, faces a potential health crisis as symptoms of 'myasthenia gravis,' which led to his retirement as a rugby player, resurface.

The fourth episode, aired on August 2, showcased the intense efforts of Hanyang High School's rugby team, led by coach Joo Ga-ram, to recruit new talent. The episode achieved its highest ratings yet, with a peak of 7.7% nationwide, 6.0% in the metropolitan area, and 5.4% nationwide.

The tension escalated when Vice Principal Sung Jong-man (played by Kim Min-sang) imposed an unreasonable condition that new recruit Moon Woong (played by Kim Dan) must pass a test in another sport to be admitted. Principal Kang Jung-hyo (played by Gil Hae-yeon) strongly opposed this, leading to a heated exchange. Ga-ram reminded Jung-hyo of her past advice that led him to choose rugby, urging her to give students the opportunity to make their own decisions.

The rugby team launched a mission to secure Woong's admission. Team captain Yoon Sung-joon (played by Kim Yo-han) led intense training sessions, while Ga-ram engaged in a covert operation to gather intelligence on rival teams. Meanwhile, Vice Principal Jong-man conspired to disband the rugby team and enlisted Ga-ram's ex-girlfriend Bae Yi-ji (played by Im Se-mi) to spy on him, causing further tension.

Facing challenges without proper coaching, Sung-joon and Woong sought help from Seo Woo-jin (played by Park Jung-yeon), a former archery team member. Despite initial reluctance, Woo-jin agreed to assist after witnessing Woong's dedication.

On the day of the crucial tests, Woong excelled in rugby, impressing everyone with his natural talent. However, he struggled in fencing, losing to the team captain but managing to score points after analyzing his opponent's strategy.

Vice Principal Jong-man attempted to sabotage the team's efforts by canceling the archery event, citing food poisoning, and replacing it with shooting. This led to misunderstandings and emotional confessions, with Sung-joon expressing his desire to be recognized as a rugby player.

In the final shooting match, Ga-ram encouraged the team with his optimism. Despite Woong's low scores, a surprising twist occurred when Woo-jin intentionally scored zero, securing the rugby team's future. This act of defiance angered the Deputy Superintendent Na Kyu-won (played by Jang Hyuk-jin), who lashed out at Jong-man.

The episode concluded with Ga-ram experiencing severe pain, hinting at the return of his 'myasthenia gravis.' This revelation, witnessed by Yi-ji, raises questions about Ga-ram's hidden struggles and the impact on his future.
