ASTRO's Cha Eun-woo Begins Military Service: A Look at His Journey and Future Projects

ASTRO member and actor Cha Eun-woo officially begins his military service on the 28th.

According to his agency, Fantagio, Cha Eun-woo has entered the training camp where he will undergo approximately five weeks of basic military training before being assigned to the Army's military band for active duty. To prevent any on-site congestion, the time and location of his enlistment were kept private, and no official events were organized.

Cha Eun-woo submitted his application to the military band in March and was informed of his acceptance after an interview. Up until early this month, he had been communicating with fans, expressing that he was "still waiting for the results," making his earlier-than-expected enlistment a surprise to many fans.

On the 27th, Cha Eun-woo bid farewell to his fans through a live broadcast, revealing his shaved head and sharing, "I find it fascinating myself. It's still strange every time I look in the mirror. This is probably the shortest my hair has ever been. It's surreal that this day has come for me." He added, "Thank you for being with me in my 20s, the first chapter of my life. I'm looking forward to my 30s after I return. Please continue to support me."

Through the fan communication platform From, he also shared, "I've been doing well, meeting many grateful and thankful people. I miss ROHA. It hasn't sunk in yet, but please don't forget about the album, movie, and drama that are coming out. I've prepared all three meticulously. I'll come back even better."

Cha Eun-woo debuted in the film industry with "My Brilliant Life" in 2014 and officially entered the music scene with ASTRO in 2016. He recently connected with fans through the fan meeting 'The Royal' in Seoul and Japan and is set to release a solo album in September.

Additionally, he is set to appear in the Netflix series "The Wonderfuls" and the film "First Ride." "The Wonderfuls" is a supernatural comic action drama set against the backdrop of the 1999 doomsday craze, featuring Park Eun-bin, Kim Hae-sook, and Son Hyun-joo. "First Ride," starring alongside Kang Ha-neul, Kim Young-kwang, and Kang Young-seok, depicts unpredictable events during friends' first overseas trip.

Cha Eun-woo has also been in the spotlight as the character Jin-woo in the globally acclaimed Netflix animation "K-Pop Demon Hunters" was modeled after him. Before his enlistment, he performed a cover of "Soda Pop" in uniform at a fan meeting, receiving an enthusiastic response.

His agency stated, "We ask for your warm support and encouragement for Cha Eun-woo as he fulfills his military duty and returns healthy."
