Madly Medley Festival Halts Sales of Controversial $6,600 '1% Ticket'

The organizers of the music festival 'Madly Medley' have ceased sales of their controversial $6,600 ticket.

The '1% Ticket' for 'Madly Medley,' which was set to be sold for 8.88 million KRW (approximately $6,600), was halted on the 16th.

Culture Think, the organizer of 'Madly Medley,' issued a statement on social media on the 15th, saying, "We deeply empathize with the concerns and criticisms regarding the 1% Ticket and sincerely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience caused by insufficient guidance and preparation."

They further stated, "The 1% TICKET is no longer available at any ticket outlets, and full refunds will be provided to those who have already purchased it."

The 'Madly Medley' festival is scheduled to take place on October 18-19 at Paradise City in Incheon. Regular one-day tickets are priced at 118,000 KRW (approximately $88), two-day tickets at 148,000 KRW (approximately $110), and VIP two-day tickets at 248,000 KRW (approximately $185), which are comparable to typical festival ticket prices. However, the 1% Ticket's price sparked controversy.

The 1% Ticket, priced at 8.88 million KRW, offered benefits such as exclusive entry and exit gates, a private lounge near the main stage, viewing from the main stage, exclusive F&B booths, unlimited alcohol, official merchandise, and access to an after-party.

G-Dragon is set to headline the first day of the festival, leading some to speculate that the ticket price was set with his star power in mind. Despite the numerous perks, the price was deemed excessively high, prompting the decision to halt sales.
