Meet Your Next Idol Pick: Na Kamden of AMPERS&ONE
Na Kamden from the group AMPERS&ONE has shared an intriguing story about how he was cast through an Instagram DM.
In a recent interview with TENASIA at FNC Entertainment's headquarters in Gangnam, Seoul, Na Kamden opened up about his casting experience. He revealed, "I had an existing social media account, but I felt it was a bit dull and boring. So, I decided to create a new account with a more artistic vibe. The very next day, I received a message on that account."
Despite having fewer than 10 followers, the account caught the attention of FNC. Na Kamden speculated that the reason for the DM casting was his visual appeal, as he noted, "I didn't have many followers, but compared to my previous account, my face was more prominently featured in the feed."
Since appearing on Mnet's 'Boys Planet' in 2023, Na Kamden has been affectionately nicknamed 'Camdongwon' (a combination of Na Kamden and actor Kang Dong-won) due to his striking resemblance to the actor. During his solo fan meeting 'Na Kamden Theory,' he even parodied Kang Dong-won's iconic umbrella scene from the movie 'Temptation of Wolves.'
He shared, "Fans called me 'Camdongwon' a lot during 'Boys Planet,' and even the trainees I lived with used that nickname. Especially Kim Kyubin from Zerobaseone often called me that." Although he appreciates the nickname, Na Kamden shyly admitted, "I don't fully accept it," with a laugh.
AMPERS&ONE, the group Na Kamden is part of, successfully completed their first Asia and North America tours earlier this year, showcasing their global growth. In April, they released their second mini-album 'WILD & FREE,' delivering a powerful performance filled with confidence and energy.
