Super Junior's Shindong Opens Up About Weight Loss Struggles and 'Wegovy' Experience

Super Junior's Shindong recently shared his challenges with weight loss, revealing that despite losing 37kg in five months, he experienced a rebound effect and eventually resorted to using an injectable obesity treatment.

On the October 3rd episode of KBS2's variety show 'Problem Child in House(옥탑방의 문제아들),' Shindong appeared as a guest alongside fellow Super Junior member Kyuhyun.

During the show, Shindong disclosed that he spent approximately 14.49 million won (around $12,000) on food delivery in a year. He humorously noted, "I didn't realize it until I calculated it. The shocking part is that I use three delivery apps, and that's just the cost from one of them."

Previously, Shindong had successfully reduced his weight from 116kg to 79kg in just five months. He explained, "I focused more on diet than exercise. I mainly ate wraps with brown rice balls, stir-fried anchovies, and a dab of gochujang. I would eat about six of these per meal."

However, maintaining his weight proved difficult. Shindong admitted, "I wanted to maintain it, but it didn't work out. I thought it would be okay to gain a little back since I had come this far. After three months, I was back up to 89kg. I decided to diet again and lost about 5kg. But as I repeated this cycle, I surpassed 90kg and then 99kg. It only took about three months to regain the weight."

Shindong also tried the popular 'Wegovy' injection, stating, "I started as soon as it came out. I went through all seven stages, but it didn't work for me." He added humorously, "The doctor said, 'You might find it hard to eat because of digestion issues,' but I digested everything too well. The doctor joked, 'Shindong, you've overcome Wegovy,' which made everyone laugh."
