The cast lineup for the drama 'Brilliant Days' has been unveiled.
KBS 2TV's upcoming weekend drama 'Brilliant Days' (directed by Kim Hyung-seok, written by So Hyun-kyung, produced by Studio Coming Soon) explores the concept that everyone experiences brilliant days at some point in their lives, whether in the present, past, or future. It is a family melodrama that aims to resonate across generations.
Following the announcement of Jung Il-woo, Jung In-sun, and Yoon Hyun-min's participation, today (18th), it was revealed that Chun Ho-jin, Lee Tae-ran, Ban Hyo-jung, Yoon Joo-sang, Kim Hee-jung, Park Sung-geun, and Kim Jung-young have also joined the cast.
Chun Ho-jin will play the role of Lee Sang-chul, the father of Lee Ji-hyuk (played by Jung Il-woo). Sang-chul is a character known for his honesty and strong sense of responsibility, who has worked tirelessly to support his family despite difficult circumstances. After retiring, he faces the harsh realities of life as he struggles with re-employment and experiences conflicts with his son Ji-hyuk due to differing values.
Lee Tae-ran will portray Go Sung-hee, the stepmother of Park Sung-jae (played by Yoon Hyun-min), bringing a strong presence to the role. Sung-hee appears gentle and elegant on the surface but is actually a cold and selfish character who will stop at nothing to achieve her ambitions. Her aspirations are expected to drive the main conflict in the drama.
Ban Hyo-jung will appear as Jo Ok-rye, the mother of Lee Sang-chul. As she faces the harsh reality of losing her job and companions with time, she experiences a wave of change after encountering a new world by chance.
Yoon Joo-sang will take on the role of Kim Jang-soo, the father of Da-jung and Jo Ok-rye's in-law. After caring for his wife with dementia and losing her, he navigates the conflicts and comforts within the family after retirement.
Kim Hee-jung will play Kim Da-jung, the wife of Lee Sang-chul and mother of Lee Ji-hyuk. Da-jung, a former elementary school teacher, has dedicated herself to household chores and caregiving after marriage. Known for her warm and loving nature, she has endured tough times thanks to her husband Sang-chul, but now finds herself caught between her husband and son.
Park Sung-geun will portray Park Jin-seok, the husband of Go Sung-hee and father of Park Sung-jae. A successful businessman with a jovial personality, he remarried Sung-hee after divorcing his first wife. Although he senses her ambitions, he gradually comes to terms with her true nature.
Lastly, Kim Jung-young will play Jung Soon-hee, the mother of Ji Eun-oh (played by Jung In-sun). After losing her husband, she relies on her daughter Eun-oh but struggles as her son Ji Kang-oh (played by Yang Hyuk) demands financial support for his business.
The production team stated, "Given that these characters represent different generations, authentic performances and strong presence were crucial. With a lineup of trusted and talented actors like Chun Ho-jin, Lee Tae-ran, Ban Hyo-jung, Yoon Joo-sang, Kim Hee-jung, Park Sung-geun, and Kim Jung-young, we are confident they will anchor the drama. We look forward to the synergy they will bring in capturing the perspectives and emotions of various generations."
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's new weekend drama 'Brilliant Days' is set to premiere in August, following 'Please Take Care of the Eagle Brothers!'.
