The aftermath of Netflix's reality show 'Devil's Plan 2: Death Room' continues to stir controversy. While Jung Hyun-kyu has issued an apology and Kyuhyun has opted to sue malicious commenters, Yoon So-hee, who had remained silent, chose to address the situation head-on through a YouTube broadcast. However, viewers remain unimpressed by Yoon So-hee's seemingly contradictory behavior.
On October 10, Ha Seok-jin's YouTube channel featured a video titled 'Can You Handle a 54-Minute Final Review of Devil's Plan?' In the video, Ha Seok-jin, a former winner of 'Devil's Plan' Season 1, questions Yoon So-hee and Seven High, participants of 'Devil's Plan 2,' about various topics.
In 'Devil's Plan 2,' Jung Hyun-kyu, Yoon So-hee, and Kyuhyun have been labeled as the main villains. Yoon So-hee, in particular, has drawn ire for her selective altruism towards Jung Hyun-kyu. Despite knowing about Jung Hyun-kyu's 'hidden reward,' she helped him win and even forfeited her chance at victory in the finals, leaving viewers baffled. Given her background as a prodigy who graduated early from a science high school and attended KAIST, her actions have been met with disbelief.
During the broadcast, Yoon So-hee attempted to explain her actions and words. However, her explanations were not entirely convincing, as she herself acknowledged the inconsistencies in her behavior. Regarding the so-called 'gang-up plan,' Yoon So-hee stated, "I was too focused on the game to notice anyone being left out," yet contradicted herself by expressing concern when Jung Hyun-kyu was isolated, saying, "I was very worried. I wouldn't have let it go if it were anyone else."
When asked why she didn't advise Jung Hyun-kyu to use his 'hidden reward,' she replied, "I'm not the type to bring up such things," which left many bewildered. Ha Seok-jin pointed out the contradiction, and Seven High criticized her, saying, "She tries not to harm others and is unnecessarily considerate. I still think she made immature decisions."
Yoon So-hee consistently attributed her perplexing behavior to her personality. Regarding her statement in the semifinals, "I hope Hyun-kyu doesn't lose," she blamed the producers, saying, "I didn't know they would air it like that. I was very angry."
Despite advancing to the finals, her lack of enthusiasm and apparent willingness to let Jung Hyun-kyu win led her to admit, "I think I was an idiot." When asked if she felt sorry to the public, she laughed and said, "Not at all."
As of October 12, the video has garnered over 140,000 views and more than 1,800 comments. Viewers have reacted with comments such as, "It wasn't altruism; it was selective altruism for Jung Hyun-kyu," "It wasn't altruism; it was excessive passivity," "Why blame the producers for your own words?" and "She still doesn't seem to understand what went wrong."
Yoon So-hee's participation in 'Devil's Plan 2' has significantly impacted her future career. As an actress, the negative image could severely affect her casting opportunities. It's unfortunate that 'Devil's Plan 2' has become her defining work in her 13-year career.
