Producer and rapper Koala has issued an apology regarding allegations of assaulting a fan of singer Jessi, nearly eight months after the incident.
On November 4th, Koala posted a handwritten apology on his social media. He stated, "I apologize for taking some time to address this. I wanted to speak out earlier, but I believed it was right to wait until everything was legally resolved and properly handled," explaining the delay in his apology.
He continued, "First, I sincerely apologize to the victim and their family. There was no reason for them to go through such an ordeal, and I deeply regret the pain I caused." He also extended his apologies to others who were indirectly affected by the incident, acknowledging, "I know I have disappointed many people, and I take that responsibility seriously."
Koala admitted, "This incident is clearly my responsibility. It should not have escalated to this extent, and that is entirely my fault. I have accepted the consequences and have been living with that responsibility ever since." He added, "There are no excuses or blame on others. I am quietly and sincerely reflecting on myself and striving to become a better person."
He concluded by expressing gratitude to those who supported him during difficult times, stating, "To those who were disappointed, I want you to know that I hear your voices and am working to become a better person. The case has been officially closed, and I promise to repay you with a better version of myself in the future."
Previously, Jessi was embroiled in controversy for allegedly ignoring an assault on a fan. According to police reports, in the early hours of September 29th last year, a minor fan requested a photo with Jessi in Apgujeong, Gangnam, and was assaulted by a male member of Jessi's entourage. The Seoul Gangnam Police Station investigated Jessi for charges of intimidation and harboring a criminal but decided not to pursue charges. Koala was forwarded to the prosecution on assault charges.
