Actor Ji Seung-hyun shared the unexpected backlash he faced after starring alongside Jang Na-ra in the drama 'Good Partner,' which led to him being dubbed the 'nation's adulterer.'
On the October 4th episode of MBC's variety show 'Radio Star,' Ji Seung-hyun appeared as a guest alongside In Gyo-jin, Tei, and Heo Kyung-hwan for the 'Capturing Women's Hearts' special.
During the show, Ji Seung-hyun recounted how he went from being a national hero to a villain, saying, "While filming the drama 'Goryeo-Khitan War,' I received an offer for my next project. The title 'Good Partner' sounded great, but the content was completely different."
He continued, "As an actor, it's my job to entertain and provide catharsis to the audience with various roles, so I accepted it. But 'Good Partner' caused quite a stir. I received comments like 'He saved the country only to abandon it,' and 'Go back to Goryeo. Don't reincarnate.' A gas station owner even ran out to hit me on the back while I was refueling."
Ji Seung-hyun also shared an amusing incident at a 'Goryeo-Khitan War' staff wedding, saying, "I dressed up thinking people would greet me as General Yang Kyu. But since 'Good Partner' was airing, I heard comments like 'That's Jang Na-ra's husband. Isn't he the bad guy?' I expected a warm welcome."
He further recalled a line from the drama where his character was involved in an affair, saying, "I thought, 'This will be a big deal when it airs.' The line was, 'Do you have proof it's my child?' I was sweating while delivering it." He added, "The ratings were very high, and viewers were so engrossed that I eventually posted an apology video."
