Korean singer and television personality Harisu has extended her congratulations to Lee Jae-myung on his election as the 21st President of South Korea.
On April 4th, Harisu took to her personal social media to share a message, "Congratulations to President Lee Jae-myung on your election. Please do your best so that the people of our country can live well. Fighting!" The accompanying photo showed the President-elect wearing a blue jumper with his hands raised in victory.
Harisu, known as the first transgender entertainer in South Korea, has been actively involved in advocating for LGBTQ+ rights. In April 2022, she participated in a press conference at the National Assembly urging the enactment of an anti-discrimination law. During this event, she met with the Democratic Party leadership to emphasize the necessity of such legislation.
Lee Jae-myung secured his presidency with 49.42% of the vote (17,287,513 votes) in the election held the previous day. His main opponent, Kim Moon-soo of the People Power Party, garnered 41.15% (14,395,639 votes), while Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party received 8.34% (2,917,523 votes).
The National Election Commission officially confirmed Lee Jae-myung as the President-elect during a full committee meeting at 6:15 AM on April 4th. Consequently, President Lee's term commenced at 6:21 AM the same day.
