I-dle is back with their new album 'We are', marking the start of a new chapter in their career.
On the 19th at 6 PM, I-dle will release their 8th mini-album 'We are' across various music platforms. This album comes approximately 10 months after their previous release, the 7th mini-album 'I SWAY', which was launched in July last year. This is the first album they are releasing after all members renewed their contracts with Cube Entertainment and changed their group name from '(G)I-dle' to 'I-dle' in celebration of their 7th anniversary.
The group officially announced the name change on the 2nd, dropping '(G)' to reflect a gender-neutral identity, hinting at a shift in their musical and conceptual direction. To promote this change, they released related content such as 'for (G)' and the 'i-dentity trailer'. They also released a special album 'We are i-dle', featuring reimagined versions of their hit songs as a five-member group.
The new album 'We are' includes six tracks: the title track 'Good Thing', the pre-released 'Girlfriend', 'Love Tease', 'Chain', 'Unstoppable', and '그래도 돼요'. All members participated in writing and composing, emphasizing the group's unique style.
The title track 'Good Thing', written and composed by Soyeon, is characterized by its catchy hook and confident lyrics. 'Girlfriend', also co-written and composed by Soyeon, offers comfort to a friend going through a breakup.
Yuqi contributed her self-composed disco track 'Love Tease', while Minnie composed 'Chain', noted for its dreamy melody. Miyeon included her self-composed track 'Unstoppable' in a group album for the first time, and Shuhua participated in writing lyrics for '그래도 돼요'.
'Good Thing' combines retro instruments with an 8-bit sound, featuring repetitive lyrics like "Good Thing" and "Holy moly shhh" as key highlights. The short-form video showcasing the 'thumbs up' point choreography has gone viral, with many influencers participating in the challenge videos.
