Kina, a member of the popular K-pop group FIFTY FIFTY, is currently on hiatus due to health issues. According to Jeon Hong-jun, CEO of ATTRAKT, the agency representing the group, Kina is struggling with eating, experiencing nausea, and auditory hallucinations. "We will not allow her to return until the doctor confirms her recovery," Jeon stated.
In a phone interview with TenAsia, Jeon revealed that Kina has been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after a confrontation with An Sung-il, CEO of The Givers, at the Gangnam Police Station. The confrontation is believed to have triggered her condition.
Jeon explained that the confrontation took place on the 15th of last month, and Kina began showing symptoms around the 26th. Despite being accompanied by agency staff and several lawyers, the mental impact was significant. "We encouraged each other to stay strong, but Kina was silently struggling," Jeon added.
Jeon continued, "Even while preparing for a comeback, Kina showed no signs of distress. She kept her feelings to herself, spending over ten days in solitude. At the dorm, she stayed alone in her room, and at the company, she was busy practicing, enduring her struggles quietly." He expressed his concern, "Even I found the confrontation challenging, so I can only imagine how difficult it was for young Kina."
Realizing the severity of Kina's condition, Jeon stated that they decided to halt her activities after discussions with her, her father, and the other members. The choreography and song parts have been rearranged for the remaining four members to continue their activities. FIFTY FIFTY plans to promote until the end of this month, and if the doctor approves, Kina will rejoin before the promotions conclude.
However, Jeon emphasized, "The priority for Kina now is treatment and recovery." Her return to activities will be based solely on the doctor's assessment. "Kina is eager to meet her fans in good health," he reiterated.
Previously, Kina filed a lawsuit against An last August for forgery and using forged documents. An is accused of forging Kina's signature to allocate only 0.5% of the copyright for the hit song 'Cupid' to her, without her consent. According to industry norms, rappers typically receive a minimum of 3-5% in copyright shares. Kina's side claims An forged her signature to give her a significantly lower share.
FIFTY FIFTY released their mini-album 'Day & Night' on the 29th of last month. ATTRAKT announced Kina's hiatus on the 7th.
