Actress Lim Ji-yeon returned empty-handed amid the 'cold shoulder' controversy.
On the 5th, the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony took place at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul. The event was hosted by broadcaster Shin Dong-yup, actors Park Bo-gum, and Suzy, and was broadcast live on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4, with digital streaming available on Prism, Naver TV, and Chizichic.
Lim Ji-yeon was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the film category but did not win. The nominees included Gong Seung-yeon (Handsome Guys), Soo Hyun (Ordinary Family), Lim Ji-yeon (Revolver), Jeon Yeo-bin (Black Nuns), and Han Sun-hwa (Pilot), with the award going to Soo Hyun.
Soo Hyun expressed her gratitude, saying, "I'm really thankful. Going to the set was so much fun. I even felt sad to leave. I miss my Avengers-like seniors Seol Kyung-gu, Jang Dong-gun, and Kim Hee-ae. It was a joy to act with them."
She continued, "Many people are spending time with their families, and I think of mine. They are the center of my world and my happiness. I've been busy working recently, and there's a child waiting for me at home. I love you," she said, addressing her daughter.
Previously, when the Baeksang Arts Awards nominees were announced, Lim Ji-yeon faced 'cold shoulder' controversy for not being nominated for Best Actress, despite her leading role in 'The Tale of Mrs. Ok'. The nominees for Best Actress in the TV category included Go Min-si ('In the Forest Where No One Exists'), Kim Tae-ri ('Jeong Nyeon'), Kim Hye-yoon ('Run Away with Seon-jae'), IU ('You Have Been Fooled'), and Jang Na-ra ('Good Partner').
However, at the Baeksang Awards, Lim Ji-yeon warmly applauded and smiled as Choo Young-woo received the Newcomer Award for 'The Tale of Mrs. Ok'. She also shed tears of joy congratulating Jeon Do-yeon on her Best Actress win for 'Revolver'.
