On the September 23rd episode of MBC's variety show 'Radio Star,' Gangnam appeared as a guest alongside Go Joon, K.Will, and Kim Poong for the 'Modern Gentlemen' special.
Having passed the naturalization test in 2022, Gangnam proudly displayed his Korean ID card, stating, "My name is Namekawa Yasuo, which is my original name. There are so many things to register, and changing everything at once is too much, so I decided to keep it for now." He emphasized, "I am now a complete Korean. I am not a dual citizen."
He added, "I plan to change my name later. I will adopt a surname to become the first of the Yongsan clan."
Discussing the perks of naturalization, Gangnam shared, "When I went to Don Quijote, I got a tax exemption. They seemed surprised when I spoke fluent Japanese, so I intentionally spoke with a strange accent. They gave me about a 10% discount, which is significant."
Gangnam celebrated surpassing 1 million subscribers on YouTube, saying, "When I started YouTube, everyone said reaching 100,000 would be tough. But I was confident we'd hit 1 million, especially with Lee Sang-hwa and her family involved. I was sure we'd achieve it within five years."
He continued, "One of Japan's top three entertainment agencies contacted me for a contract as a Korean singer. They never reached out when I was a Japanese national, but now I need a visa to go there."
The most popular content features his wife, Lee Sang-hwa. Gangnam revealed that they manage their finances separately, saying, "We buy what we need individually, but Lee Sang-hwa still buys the expensive things. She has won hundreds of gold medals from international competitions. I calculated, and her wealth is about five times mine."
