Coldplay's Return to South Korea Coincides with Political Turmoil

Coldplay, the renowned British band, is set to perform in South Korea for the first time in eight years, and their visit coincides with a significant political moment in the country.

From November 16 to 25, Coldplay will hold their 'LIVE NATION PRESENTS COLDPLAY: MUSIC OF THE SPHERES DELIVERED BY DHL' concert series at the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium. The band is scheduled to perform six shows, each expected to draw 30,000 attendees, totaling an audience of 180,000.

This concert series follows the recent impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. With the Constitutional Court's decision leaving the presidency vacant, South Korea faces a period where electing a new president within the constitutionally mandated 60 days is physically impossible.

A similar situation occurred in 2017 when Coldplay held their first concert in Seoul at the Olympic Stadium. At that time, the country was also in political limbo following the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye, with the presidential election yet to take place. This has led to online commentary noting that "whenever Coldplay visits, there is no president."

Additionally, the upcoming Coldplay concerts will feature the popular group TWICE as special guests.
