Popular YouTuber Yoo Hye-joo, who boasts 800,000 subscribers, has revealed the behind-the-scenes story of her viral childbirth vlog. Yoo, who married a former flight attendant chief in 2019, welcomed a son in February last year.
On the 23rd, MBC's 'Radio Star' aired a special episode titled 'Mom's Talk Express,' featuring Shin Ae-ra, Yoon Yoo-sun, Lee Hye-won, Oh Yoon-ah, and Yoo Hye-joo.
Yoo Se-yoon asked Yoo Hye-joo about the filming secrets of her most-viewed childbirth vlog. Yoo explained, "My husband is a former flight attendant. Around my due date, he had a flight scheduled to Washington."
Yoo continued, "As soon as my husband arrived, I started to show signs of labor. In this unexpected situation, I called my mother, and my sisters rushed to be with me. The next day, labor began," she recounted, adding that her sister cut the umbilical cord at the hospital.
The panelists reacted strongly, noting that "her sister took on the husband's role." Yoo shared, "My husband sent a link to a breathing technique video for childbirth and instructed my sister on how to film," detailing how he even explained the camera operation.
Yoo mentioned, "If my husband had been present during the birth, he planned to enter with an action camera mounted on his forehead." Listening to this, Oh Yoon-ah remarked, "That's why you have so many subscribers." True to her YouTuber spirit, Yoo captured the moments of labor pains and the cutting of the umbilical cord on camera, sharing them with her subscribers. Kim Gu-ra jokingly commented, "No wonder people don't watch TV anymore."
Yoo confessed, "I was worried that filming it too realistically might deter subscribers from childbirth." Kim Guk-jin added, "I've never seen an umbilical cord that thick before."
