Director Hirokazu Kore-eda visits Korea


Director Hirokazu Koreeda, who directed the movie 'Monster', will visit Korea for 3 days and 2 nights from February 3rd to 5th to express his gratitude for the Korean box office hit.

Director Hirokazu Koreeda visited Seoul in 2022 with 'Broker' and attended the Busan International Film Festival with 'Monster' in 2023, and is planning to visit Seoul in February 2024 to meet Korean audiences and media. This visit to Korea is to directly express gratitude to the audience for their love of ‘The Host’. The detailed schedule for the visit to Korea will be released later.

'Monster', which is about to exceed 500,000 viewers, continues to be the top independent/art box office, weekly, and weekend box office for 6 consecutive weeks, showing the power of a monster buster. 'The Host' swept the titles of the highest-grossing domestic film among Japanese films directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, the highest-grossing independent/art film in the second half of 2023, the highest-grossing Japanese live-action film in 2023, and the first art film of the new year in 2024. This makes this visit to Korea even more meaningful.

'The Host' was created through the warm yet sharp directing skills of world-renowned director Hirokazu Kore-eda and the collaboration between scriptwriter Yuji Sakamoto and the late music director Ryuichi Sakamoto. Following the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival, it won awards at leading film festivals around the world.

'Monster' is a story about a mother who notices something strange about her son's behavior that has changed significantly and goes to school to see everyone around him who is involved in a mysterious incident go through a whirlwind of emotions. It is currently showing in theaters.

Hirokazu Kore-eda has also worked with Korean actors such as Song Kang-ho, Kang Dong-won, Bae Doo-na, IU, and Joo-young Lee in the movie 'Broker'.
