At 2 p.m. on the 9th, a showcase commemorating the release of Kyuhyun's new EP 'Restart' was held at the Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. On this day, Super Junior Leeteuk served as MC.
This album is Kyuhyun's first album after transferring to Antenna. Regarding this, Kyuhyun said, "I'm still unfamiliar with the Antenna family. I can't confidently say I don't like it yet, and I timidly say, 'Isn't this right?'" In response, Leeteuk made everyone laugh by saying, "I saw you in the waiting room earlier, and it seemed like you and the director were very glaring at each other. I hope we can become friends." Kyuhyun continued with a laugh, saying, “It’s strange coming to a new place after working at the same company for 17 or 18 years.”
In addition, Kyuhyun said that Yoo Hee-yeol showed great interest in this new album, and said, "What surprised me was that the CEO sat in my recording studio for 6 hours. He was that interested and gave me feedback right away. Being able to talk about it and make changes on the spot is the key to the song." “It was comfortable for me to do it,” he added.
As he has moved to Antenna, Kyuhyun is determined to make a new start through this album. He said, "Personally, I thought about reducing my opinions in this album. I thought that if I expressed my opinions, music similar to the music I had made so far would come out. I actively reflected the opinions of the CEO and working staff." “There are songs with a pop feel and songs with a rock feel. I think fans will be very surprised,” he introduced.
In particular, Kyuhyun introduced the b-side song 'Was it Love' and said, "It's a song of the style I like. So there was friction with the CEO over song number 4. I also said, 'Shouldn't this be the title?' But the title song was “After listening to it, I really liked it. I said, ‘The CEO had a pioneering plan,’ and I quit.”
Kyuhyun also said that the title song is 4 minutes and 15 seconds long. “It’s too old-fashioned. So I wondered if I should have boldly cut the second verse.” He added, “In today’s style, rather than saying, ‘This has to be good,’ we focus on ‘our musicality.’ “I came out with this song with the feeling of ‘let’s show it to you,’” he explained.
This new album 'Restart' is Kyuhyun's new album released about two years after the release of 'Love Story (4 Season Project 季)', and as the album name suggests, Kyuhyun is making a new start at Antenna. It contains a story.
The title song 'It's Not Like That' is a pop rock genre that stands out with Kyuhyun's powerful vocals, and the song expresses complex feelings toward an ex-lover whom it has not been a long time through lyrical lyrics. Kyuhyun tried to break away from the colors he had shown so far and transform into a refreshing charm.
Released at 6pm on this day.
