Park Jeong-yoon played the role of Ji-seon, a white hospital patient who looks somewhat distracted, in Netflix's 'Morning Comes Even in the Psychiatric Ward' (hereinafter referred to as 'Mental Ward') and gave a stable performance.
'Mental Ward' is a work that tells the story of Da-eun (Park Bo-young), a nurse who is working in a mental health department for the first time, and the world and heartbreaking people she meets inside the psychiatric ward. Ji-seon constantly stimulates Da-eun, and Da-eun helps her accept her mental illness. He played an important role in the episodes of improvement.
Park Jeong-yoon, who portrayed the character Ji-seon in a three-dimensional way with stable acting even in the midst of rapidly changing emotions, said through his agency Will Entertainment, “It was an honorable event just to be able to put my name on a work that had a big impact,” and “Every moment was a learning experience.” “It was,” he said with affection.
Interest and expectations are gathering on Park Jeong-yoon, who showed stable acting by flexibly portraying the innocent yet meticulous character of Ji-seon through 'Mental Ward'.
Meanwhile, Park Jeong-yoon debuted as Do Yoo-kyung in Netflix's 'Boy Judge' in 2022 and received attention for her solid acting. In addition, he has been gradually establishing himself as an actor by appearing in the movies 'Hero', Disney+'s 'You and My Police Lesson', and tvN's 'Link'.
◆ Below is Park Jeong-yoon’s Q&A
Q. How do you feel about participating in ‘Mental Ward’?
I was grateful to be able to act in a good atmosphere, and more than anything, it was an honor to be able to put my name on a work that had a big impact. I think every moment was a learning experience.
Q. You played the role of stimulating Da-eun (Park Bo-young) well in ‘Mental Ward’. What did you focus on most while preparing?
When I played the character Ji-seon, who had to stimulate Da-eun, I tried to explain the character's emotional changes as I usually do with my older sister. I remember being thankful that Da-eun said that she was acting very obnoxiously on set.
Q. You played the role of patient Ji-seon in ‘Mental Ward’. What efforts did you make to immerse yourself in this role?
I thought it would be good to be able to incorporate the stories I experienced into my acting through specific examples, so I tried to hear as many stories as possible from my friend who is a nurse. I learned why patients are admitted to the ward, what rules there are within the ward, and I tried to become as familiar as possible with the types of drugs mentioned in the dialogue by looking up videos and literature of psychiatrists.
Q. What role do you want to play in the future?
There are so many roles I want to play. I want to play a character who is driven by revenge, and I also want to play a fun character like in a sitcom. I think I’m a very funny person (laughter)
Q. Lastly, a word to the viewers who loved and supported ‘Morning Comes Even in the Psychiatric Ward’.
Thank you so much to everyone who watched ‘Morning Comes Even in the Mental Ward’. I hope you are always healthy in body and mind, and I hope you stay warm even in the cold winter.
