Director Ma Dae-yoon met with Ten Asia online on the 3rd and told various stories about 'Switch', which is about to be released.
'Switch' is the story of Park Kang (played by Kwon Sang-woo), a top star who was enjoying a glamorous single life, a 10 million actor ranked 0th in casting and a self-proclaimed scandal maker, when his life changes 180 degrees on Christmas.
Director Ma Dae-yoon has been building his skills step by step by participating as a screenplay writer in works of various genres such as 'Princess Deokhye', 'The Phone', 'Detective: The Beginning', and 'Wandering Blade'.
Through his feature film debut, 'Yes, Family', which depicts the unusual story of an ordinary family, he resonated with many people and made a strong impression. We meet the audience with ‘Switch’, which opens the door to the release of Korean films in the new year.
In ‘Switch’, the line ‘Lee Byung-hun is cheap these days’ appears. Regarding this, Lee Min-jung said, "I told my husband about it, and he really liked it. If it didn't make any sense, people would be like, 'What the heck?', but if everyone laughed, I told him that of course I could do it."
On this day, director Ma Dae-yoon said, "This is a line that was in the script from the beginning. To be precise, before casting actress Lee Min-jung, there was a line in the form of a suggestion saying, 'There is a movie that Lee Byung-hun wants to do, and I will give it to you.'"
He said, "Actually, the reason I was able to use Lee Byung-hun's name was because I worked with Kim Won-guk, CEO of Hive Media Corp., the producer of 'Switch', and (Lee Byung-hun) worked together on 'The Managers of Namsan' and we were close. I thought I could use it and wrote it in the scenario." He explained.
He continued, "The exact line was, 'Lee Byung-hun would like to do it,' but (Oh) Jeong-se added one more word, 'You're cheap these days.' “Actually, I was really worried after filming that scene. I thought, ‘I think I went too far,’” he added.
Director Ma Dae-yoon said, "I couldn't meet senior Lee Byung-hun, so I asked for his understanding through Min-jeong. Senior Lee Byung-hun came to the VIP preview yesterday. I went with Jeong Se and said, 'I'm sorry.' Senior Lee Byung-hun said, 'It's okay' and smiled and said it was fun. . Then he said, ‘It’s not cheap.’ So I ended the incident by laughing and saying that it wasn’t me who did it, but Jeong Se.”
Also, "If I hadn't given permission, I wouldn't have edited it. When I already sent the script to (Lee) Min-jeong, she said she said 'oppa will appear'. When we met, there was unspoken permission. However, I was curious about whether it would be possible to go as far as 'It's cheap'. , Minjeong spoke separately and received permission.
