On the morning of the 4th, an interview was held with Lim Seong-gyun at the Ten Asia headquarters to commemorate the end of Genie TV's original ENA 'Namnam'. He was tall and boasted a handsome visual, and although he was nervous as it was his first interview, he showed the spirit of a rookie.
Lim Seong-gyun played the role of Kim Jin-su, Choi Soo-young's first love and close friend, and gave a passionate performance. He received favorable reviews for his family-like chemistry with Choi Soo-young. He left a strong impression with his sly yet simple acting.
Lim Seong-gyun, who debuted through the web drama 'Welcome to Amazon' in 2019, introduced 'Namnam' as his first work. He said, “I can say that this is my first work because it has more weight compared to the works I have done so far.” He added, “I gained a lot from doing ‘Namnam,’ and I also grew as I worked with my seniors. It was a successful work, so people around me recognized it. “Thank you,” he said.
After reading the script for ‘Namnam’, he said he was confident that he could play the character Jinsu well. Lim Seong-gyun said, "If you look at the script, you can see the character's personality. The way he speaks and the way he speaks is similar to what I use in my daily life. As soon as I saw Jin-su, I thought I had to do it. When the director explained what kind of character Jin-su was, I said, 'I am, absolutely.' “I confidently appealed,” he said, showing strong confidence.
He added, "Even on set, as I was a rookie, it was not easy for me to come up with ideas for direction. I talked a lot with senior Sooyoung. He gave me advice on the acting aspect, which was helpful."
Lim Seong-gyun, who appears as Choi Soo-young's childhood friend, was asked if he actually had a female friend and immediately answered, "I don't have one." He revealed his sweet side, saying, "Not at all. I don't have a girlfriend right now, but when I do have a girlfriend, I don't tend to keep in touch with my friends of the opposite sex, so the relationship has become distant. I seem to only focus on my girlfriend."
In the last episode, it was revealed that Jinsu's lover was a man, surprising viewers. In response, Lim Seong-gyun said, "I knew from the beginning," and "the director asked me if I was okay with it because there would be a twist at the end. I had already played a gay role in 'Boarding House Oh! Bunge' before filming 'Nam Nam,' so I didn't feel any resistance. “There wasn’t. I acted while looking at her, thinking she was my girlfriend,” he said.
Lastly, Lim Seong-gyun hoped to become “an actor who wants to be loved.” “I think I have to have that qualification. I will try new characters and show a good side of me. I want to become an actor who has laid a good foundation. I hope I can grow step by step and have a long run. Fighting!”
