Director Shin Seong-hoon, who directed the short film ‘Thank You for Jjajangmyeon’, will direct a commercial film worth 10 billion won.
According to his agency Light Pictures on the 4th, director Shin Seong-hoon will direct a commercial film. Director Shin Seong-hoon spent six and a half years completing a gorgeous and grand musical film scenario about transgender people.
Director Shin Seong-hoon, along with writer Kim Hong-ik, who co-wrote the screenplay, visited transgender clubs, transgender bars, and gay clubs across the country for about seven months, recording the speech patterns, actions, gestures, and gait of actual transgender people, and captured them in his mind while observing them with his own eyes. It is said that while working on the scenario, the personalities of all the characters were included in the script.
The agency said, "Director Shin Sung-hoon will focus on doing his best to be recognized as a director and screenwriter with the independent film 'God's Choice' and to stand tall as a full-fledged film director through his first commercial film."
Director Shin Seong-hoon said that he wants to please both eyes and ears with fresh, pleasant, magnificent music and spectacular performances that are not found in Korea or abroad.
Since the 10 billion won movie is a musical film, it is filled with songs by Korea's best composers, Sinsa-dong Tiger, Brave Brothers, Park Geun-tae, and Joo Young-hoon. There are many dancing scenes in the play, and the choreography is done by Rockersbin (animation crew), who appeared on 'America's Got Talent'. Choi Yu-rim (Anew) is in charge of costume design and produces all the costumes.
When you think of transgender musical movies, ‘Hedwig’ comes to mind. However, director Shin Seong-hoon expressed his ambition to compete with a work that will surpass 'Hedwig' through his first commercial film.
