Director James Cameron's 'Avatar: Path of Water' ranked 3rd in the world box office.
'Avatar: Waterways' (hereinafter 'Avatar 2') broke the record of 'Titanic', another masterpiece by James Cameron, and became the third highest-grossing film in history.
'Avatar 2' earned $2,243.3 million worldwide, overtaking 'Titanic' ($2,242.8 million) at the global box office. Now, ‘Avatar 2’ is chasing ‘Avatar’ ($2.92 billion) and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ ($2.7 billion) on the all-time charts. The break-even point, which was initially estimated at around $2 billion, has already been exceeded.
Cameron is the only filmmaker to have produced three movies totaling more than $2 billion, ranking first, third, and fourth in the global box office.
Meanwhile, in North America, 'Avatar 2' is the 9th highest-grossing film so far with $657 million. In order to climb higher on the all-time domestic charts, it must surpass 'Titanic' (8th place with $659 million) and 'Avengers: Infinity War' (7th place with $678 million).
