Jung Yong-hwa asked Jeong Dong-hwan about the identity of the criminal who brutally murdered his parents.
In the 14th episode of KBS2's Monday-Tuesday drama 'Brain Collaboration', which aired on the 21st, Shin Haru (played by Jung Yong-hwa) was shown solving the case of Geum Myeong-se (played by Cha Tae-hyun)'s daughter and learning the truth about her parents' car accident.
On this day's broadcast, Shin Haru conducted an optical illusion experiment using a rubber hand on Iljin-nam, who was harassing Geum Myeong-se's daughter Ina (played by Kim Ah-song), and tried to torture the brain by making it feel as if she was actually hitting Iljin-nam's hand. Iljinnam, who was terrified by this, confessed to Shin Haru why he had been harassing Ina and that he did not have the secretly taken photos of Ina.
Following Shin Haru's words, he went to the police station and revealed that he, not Ina, was the one who sent the message saying that Eunho had done that, and that he was the one who told the whole story about the incident, clearing Ina's name. With Ina's case put to rest thanks to Shin Haru's actions, Geum Myeong-se and her family visited Shin Haru's house and held a party to express their gratitude to Shin Haru.
However, while they were having a happy time, Geum Myeong-se said, "You're unemployed, a brain doctor," and offended Shin Haru. In the end, Geum Myeong-se and his family were driven out. Shin Haru, who went to work the next day, received a call from the telecommunications company saying that someone from the neuroscience team had requested to look into the communication records of the Ina case, and he became suspicious of Geum Myeong-se. Next, he asked Manager Kim (played by Woohyun) if he could request a communication inquiry since it was an incident from another team, and Manager Kim responded, “If you get caught, you will feel disciplinary action,” making Shin Haru excited.
Immediately, Shin Haru called Geum Myeong-se and asked him if he would request to look up the communication records of the Iljin members. Geum Myeong-se looked puzzled as if this was the first time he had heard this, but as Shin Haru continued to ask aggressive questions, he hesitated and then admitted. Shin Haru provoked Geum Myeong-se by saying he would make the incident public, and Geum Myeong-se said, “Should I at least take off my clothes?” Shin Haru smiled evilly and replied, “That’s a good idea,” putting Geum Myeong-se in an awkward position.
Geum Myeong-se submitted his resignation to the neuroscience team as Shin Haru wished, but even as he was quitting, he surprised Shin Haru by giving him brain donation consent forms he had received from other employees as a gift. After returning home, Shin Haru succeeded in taking revenge by driving out Geum Myeong-se, but he felt empty in a corner of his heart and missed Geum Myeong-se while thinking about him. Accordingly, Shin Haru visited his aunt Shin Ji-hyung (played by Kim Soo-jin) and had an MRI brain test performed. Shin Ji-hyung said that Shin Haru's brain changed when he looked at Detective Geum's photo and said, "This is proof that your brain accepts Detective Geum as a friend." An interesting change was explained.
Shin Ji-hyung confused Shin Haru by advising him, “Haru, if you’re curious, contact me. That’s how people usually live.” After much deliberation, Shin Haru headed near Geum Myeong-se's house and ran into Geum Myeong-se, but he was startled and ran away. After returning home, Shin Haru suddenly received a delivery box and expressed tension at the fact that the sender was Hwang Dong-woo (played by Jeong Dong-hwan).
The box contained an article titled Pyeongchang-dong Doctor Couple Murder Case. After searching the Internet, Shin Haru found out that his parents were murdered, not in a car accident. At that moment, severe tinnitus and migraines came to Shin Haru, and the sound of a plate breaking, the image of his mother bleeding on the floor, and a voice shouting, "Haru, run away" came to mind one after another. At the same time, a red alert sounded strongly in Shinharu's brain, and he sensed that danger was looming.
Meanwhile, in the ending of the day, Shin Haru met Hwang Dong-woo and questioned him about the culprit of his parents' murder. When Hwang Dong-woo saw Shin Haru, he smiled and welcomed her as if he had expected it, saying, "The gift is effective. I have gained the courage to face the pain. Now it's time to muster the courage to face the truth."
In response, Shin Haru asked what truth Hwang Dong-woo knew, and Hwang Dong-woo said that he knew the criminal who murdered Shin Haru's parents, and proposed a deal that he would tell him the criminal if he would produce a medical opinion suspending the execution of the sentence for him. Shin Haru immediately accepted without hesitation and solemnly asked, “Tell me who the culprit is.” Hwang Dong-woo smiled and said with a strange look in his eyes, “The culprit is.”
