On the 22nd, production company 8 Pictures/WYSIWYG Studio unveiled the casting lineup for ‘Searching for the King.’ 'Finding the King' is a science fiction masterpiece depicting the adventures of military doctor Do-jin (played by Koo Kyo-hwan) and the village residents, who greet a large, unidentified guest who comes to a village in the demilitarized zone in the summer of 1980.
Director Won Shin-yeon has confirmed his next film after 2019's 'Battle of Bongo-dong'. Director Won Shin-yeon's new film 'Finding the King' has begun its first filming after confirming a tight casting lineup, including Koo Kyo-hwan, Yoo Jae-myeong, Seohyun, Park Ye-rin, Park Myung-hoon, and Yoo Seong-ju.
Koo Kyo-hwan was chosen to play the role of Kim Do-jin, a public health center doctor who is at the center of the drama in 'In Search of the King' and who is dispatched to the Punchbowl in the Demilitarized Zone and undergoes a special experience. Yoo Jae-myung will play the role of Joo-bok, a resident of Punchbowl Village, and will show off his sense of justice. Seohyun challenges herself with a new charm as Jeong-ae, the only nurse at the Punchbowl Village public health center.
Here, newcomer Park Ye-rin joined the cast as Deok-jin, an alley leader who travels throughout Punchbowl Village. Park Myung-hoon plays Guan Woo, a company commander of the 66th Infantry Regiment, who has a crush on Jeong-ae. Seong-ju Yoo played the role of Colonel Seo-yeol Lee, Do-jin's superior.
Above all, 'The Search for the King' is a science fiction genre work that puts effort into creating an imaginary world view and new characters. The production team is making every effort to perfect the unidentified huge character that will be working with Gu Gyo-hwan.
At the pre-crank-in ceremony, director Won Shin-yeon said, "Miraculous things kept happening while preparing for 'Finding the King.' Even after the crank-in, I will do my best to film and complete the film safely."
Meanwhile, in 'Finding the King', WYSIWYG Studio, which established its position by implementing VFX technology in 'The Witch' (2018) and 'Victory' (2021), participated as the main investor. 8 Pictures, founded by director Won Shin-yeon, and A2G Entertainment, a subsidiary of WYSIWYG Studio, will co-produce the film, and With A Studio will be in charge of overall production.
