Police investigate witnesses from hospitals who prescribed propofol to Yoo Ah-in ‘73 times a year’


Police are investigating hospital officials as witnesses in relation to actor Yoo Ah-in, who is suspected of drug use.

An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced this at a regular press conference on the 27th. The police said, "We are comparing and analyzing Yoo Ah-in's propofol prescription status list received from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety with the actual medical records, and summoning hospital officials who administered the medication as witnesses to investigate specific facts."

Regarding Yoo Ah-in's summons schedule, the police responded, "There is still something to confirm, so a summons schedule has not been set." He added, “Once the matter is resolved, we will ask Yoo Ah-in to attend and investigate.”

Recently, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety requested the police to investigate, saying that Yoo Ah-in administered propofol a total of 73 times from January 4, 2021 to December 23, 2021. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety determined that Yoo Ah-in was prescribed propofol a total of 73 times in 2021, and the total dosage exceeded 4,400 ㎖.

On February 5, the police executed a search and seizure warrant for Yoo Ah-in's body at Incheon International Airport and conducted a quick urine test. As a result of analysis by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation, it was reported that three types of narcotic substances were detected in Yoo Ah-in's hair. Propofol, which was suspected of habitual use, as well as marijuana, which tested positive in urine, and another third drug were detected.
