What shines as brightly as the chemistry between Da-mi Kim, So-ni Jeon, and Woo-seok Byun in the movie ‘Soul Mate’ is Jeju Island, the setting of their youth. Jeju Island became the face of three people.
'Soul Mate' (directed by Min Yong-geun) is about two friends, Miso (played by Kim Da-mi), Ha-eun (played by Jeon So-ni), and Jin-woo (played by Byeon Woo-seok), who recognized each other from their first meeting and share everything together, including joy, sadness, excitement, and longing. It's a story.
The setting of the movie is Jeju Island. It is well known that the scenery of Jeju Island is beautiful. The 'soul mate' met by Jeju Island, which has different charms throughout the four seasons, is as green and shiny as youth.
I was familiar with Jeju Island, the setting for ‘Soulmate,’ but it has a new appeal. This is because the color changes depending on Kim Da-mi's face, Jeon So-ni's face, and Byeon Woo-seok's face. The point is that the colors change depending on the emotions of the three people. It almost feels like I edited it myself.
The background of ‘Soulmate’ on the big screen makes it impossible to take your eyes off it. As director Min Yong-geun said, the power of nature was enormous. Through the power of space, we empathize with the emotions of Kim Da-mi, Jeon So-ni, and Byun Woo-seok.
Da-mi Kim said, "The sky in Jeju was pretty. I used to look at the sky every time I got off work. I remember traveling as if I was on a trip." Jeon So-ni looked back and said, "You said that the scenery of Jeju resembles the colors, temperature, and humidity of youth. The times we filmed in Jeju Island were dream-like and amazing memories."
The charm of Jeju captured in ‘Soulmate’ is like a photo you can take out. Depending on the perspective of the person capturing it, different charms can be felt. Thinking of my soulmate and at the same time arousing the desire to travel to Jeju Island.
