Interview with Ahn Jae-hong as Kang Yang-hyeon in the movie ‘Rebound’
Actor Ahn Jae-hong mentioned 'The First Slam Dunk' ahead of the release of the movie 'Rebound'.
On the morning of the 29th, Ahn Jae-hong told various stories related to the upcoming movie 'Rebound' (director Jang Hang-jun) at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Rebound' is a miraculous story of 8 days during the 2012 National High School Basketball Tournament, when a new coach and 6 players of the weakest basketball team that no one paid attention to ran tirelessly. It is based on the true story of Busan Jungang High School's success in the 2012 Korea Basketball Association Long National Middle and High School Basketball Tournament.
In the play, Ahn Jae-hong plays the role of coach Kang Yang-hyeon. Coach Yang-Hyeon Kang is a former national tournament MVP and a public service worker who will coach Busan Jungang High School.
On this day, Ahn Jae-hong mentioned his performance in ‘The First Slam Dunk’. He said, "Of course, this is true, but 'Slam Dunk' is a work that was completed around the time I was in the 5th grade of elementary school. The memory of watching the last volume of 'Slam Dunk' at home in Busan comes to mind like 'Interstellar'. While working on this work, Seo Tae-woong and Kang Baek-ho “I remember seeing them giving high fives at home during the day. As an adult, I bought all the copies of ‘Slam Dunk’ in color,” he said.
He continued, "Apart from this work, I have a poster of 'Slam Dunk' in my living room at home. I always carried the last volume of 'Slam Dunk' with me like a talisman on the set of 'Rebound'. I put it on the TV shelf in my dorm, looked at the script, and took a breather. "I read the last volume while thinking about it. The last volume of 'Slam Dunk' has almost no dialogue. I remembered that and thought that I should continue to include hot things," he added.
Jaehong Ahn said, "I talked a lot about 'Slam Dunk' to the actors who played the players. No one knew at the time. No one knew that 'Slam Dunk' was being made into a theatrical animation. We filmed it from spring to summer last year. We filmed it. "I went to the theater around winter to watch a movie, and there was a promotion for 'The First Slam Dunk.' I remember that even back then, people who liked comic books didn't like animation. That's all I thought," he said.
Also, "I saw 'The First Slam Dunk' the weekend it was released. From then on, (people around me) contacted me. They said, 'I'm crying,' and 'It's not a joke.' They said, 'It's getting hot.' 'The First.' “Didn’t he walk out in the opening scene of ‘Slam Dunk’ as he started moving like a comic book? I also started crying and got hot. I hope ‘The First Slam Dunk’ brings joy to our movie. I will always think positively about it,” he said.
Jaehong Ahn said, "I cried comfortably because I wasn't in 'The First Slam Dunk'. I saw 'Rebound' for the first time through a press screening. I felt like I was crying when the music started. I was sobbing inside because I had to hold a meeting. I felt like that. The good thing is that I usually walk a lot because I like to walk, and when I walk along the Han River promenade, I see a lot of basketball courts these days. Even if you walk near the park, there are so many basketball courts that there is no empty court. “I hope the craze will have a positive butterfly effect on our film as well.”
Regarding the uniqueness of 'Rebound', Ahn Jae-hong said, "I think it is a story that is exactly what we need as we live in today's times. I thought it was a story addressed to us living in the present. It is the same for me, but there are times when our generation does not value the present. Tomorrow or tomorrow." "Isn't there time to sacrifice now for the next month or the next few years that I dream of? The movie 'Rebound' seems to be saying that we should cherish the present. This message is implied in the basketball scene in the play." .
