‘Suzume’s Door Break’, tied with 1st place ‘Avatar: Path of Water’

The Japanese animation film ‘Suzume’s Lockdown’ maintained the top spot at the box office for 35 consecutive days.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets on the 12th, 'Suzume's Lockdown' attracted 26,131 people on the 11th. The cumulative audience number was 4,401,008.

In particular, 'Suzume's Lockdown' has maintained the top spot at the box office for 35 consecutive days since its release on the 8th of last month. This is the longest record since the movie 'Avatar' released in December 2009, and is tied with 'Avatar: Path of Water' (35 days). Even compared to 'Crime City 2' (14th), which attracted 10 million viewers for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, it is overwhelming.

Previously, the highest-grossing animated film ever released in Korea was Disney's 'Frozen 2' (27th). 'Suzume's Lockdown' surpassed 1 million viewers (6 days) the fastest among this year's releases. It continues to be a long-term box office hit, surpassing 2 million (13th), 3 million (20th), and 4 million (31st) audiences.

Meanwhile, 'Suzume's Lockdown' is the story of Suzume, a girl who accidentally opens a door that causes disaster, and desperately tries to close the door to prevent disasters occurring throughout Japan, and is being screened to rave reviews in theaters across the country.
