Director Kim Ji-woon's film 'Cobweb' was invited to the non-competitive section of the 76th Cannes International Film Festival. Song Kang-ho heads to the Cannes Film Festival for the eighth time with 'Cobweb', following last year's 'Broker' (directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda).
Director Kim Ji-woon was invited to the non-competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival for his films ‘A Bittersweet Life’ in 2005 and ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Weird’ in 2008. This is my third time in this space.
Song Kang-ho is the eighth person to be invited to Cannes, following 'The Host', 'Secret Sunshine', 'Nome Nome Nome', 'Bat', 'Parasite', 'Emergency Declaration', and 'Broker', for which he won the Best Actor award last year.
'Cobweb' is a black comedy about the 1970s, and depicts the miserable and funny situations that arise when a director (played by Song Kang-ho), who is obsessed with the idea that the ending of a film that has already been filmed will be better if he re-films it, is forced to film under adverse conditions.
The Cannes Film Festival will be held from the 16th to the 27th of next month. The opening film is ‘Jeanne du Barry’ (directed by Maiwen) starring Johnny Depp.
